What is your role at GetMed Staffing? 

I am one of the owners of GetMed; I am also the CEO, overseeing all day-to-day operations, including recruiting, sales, marketing, payroll, budgeting, errand-running and sometimes bartending. 

Before working at GetMed Staffing, what was the most unusual or interesting job you’ve ever had? 

I’ve had a few fun jobs, from working as a census counter for two days to working at the UNO library. But I’d say the most interesting job I had was when I was 19; I played the piano for ballet classes at the Jewish Community Center in Omaha. 

How do you balance your career at GetMed Staffing and your family? 

I am fortunate to have a fairly decent spouse who has been very supportive of my career and decision to join a start-up company. My time away from home has increased significantly since starting GetMed. I can’t thank my husband enough for what he does for keeping the household running smoothly. My youngest child is a senior in high-school and is so busy with friends he probably doesn’t even know I started a company. I also have two adult children that have been a great help to me personally and with the company when needed. 

What do you like most about GetMed Staffing? 

I absolutely love the team I work with. I listen to a lot of podcasts; one of which is “How I Built This,” which interviews owners of companies such as Patagonia, Whole Foods, Southwest Airlines, etc. A recurring theme from these successful entrepreneurs is the importance of hiring the right people, people you can trust 100%. I am so fortunate to have built a team that truly fits that model. 

How would you describe GetMed Staffing in 3 words? 

Integrity, Intelligence, Tenacity 

What advice do you have for future travelers for GetMed Staffing? 

To our future travelers: 

You have choices, a LOT of choices when choosing a travel agency. GetMed is very, very unique in that we are a smaller, newer company, but have as many job opportunities (assignments) as our much larger competitors. It’s like having all the options of Costco…in a store the size of Walgreens. After a brief conversation with one of our recruiters, I guarantee you will want to go from being a future GetMed traveler to a current GetMed traveler. 

What have you gained from working at GetMed Staffing? 

Since starting GetMed Staffing, I have gained the courage to change the things I can, the serenity to accept the things I cannot, and the wisdom to know the difference. This can be extremely challenging as there are so many factors out of our control in the staffing industry. I am continually working to improve this skill every day. 

What do you do when you’re not working? (Hobbies, etc.) 

I love watching TV, especially true crime documentaries and stand-up comedies. Some of my recent favorites are The Jinx, The Staircase, The Sentence, The Keepers, Humanity, John Mulaney, and Nanette (which just won an Emmy!). I also play the piano for my church’s contemporary music band. And I love to eat out! Indian, Korean, and pizza are my most favorite! 

What is an interesting fact most people wouldn’t know about you? 

I consider myself very outgoing and social, but I secretly love going to the movies by myself. Nothing beats being alone with Daniel Day-Lewis in a dark, quiet theater….
